Solvang Country Kitchen
This project updated and upgraded a kitchen in a 1980’s Solvang contemporary Spanish home with outdated finishes and a relatively small kitchen workspace. The new owners had a vision to create an open and inviting Country Kitchen and to add square footage to create a formal dining space. The redesign included reconfiguring the interior walls and adding a small amount of square footage to the dining room to enhance a formal eating area and capitalize on the expansive mountain views.
The remodeled kitchen now features dark wood floors in place of terracotta tile, stunning granite counters where before there was tile, custom pine cabinets and a 4 X 7 foot gourmet island, including all new Miele appliances. The existing dining room’s 14 foot high barrel ceilings were extended into the addition area, thus enhancing the dramatic architecture viewed from the entrance foyer.
Once again, weekly design meetings between Catherine and the homeowners ensured that needs and expectations were met. In the end, the clients have conveyed great satisfaction and appreciation toward our approach to design and construction.
